Have you ever felt the power from Hell? Then it probably had something to do with Onslaught from Great Britain. The band that formed already in 1983 and developed themselves into a pioneering thrash band by 1985. Some people give them credit for using the term “Death Metal” first. Whether this is true or not we leave up to others to verify. What we know is true is that they delivered some great records in the mid 80’s. And, yes, this very band is bringing back this power to Norway and the Betong venue Friday the 21st of May 2010.
The first time they were here was on tour with Motorhead in 1987 when they ended up on Rockefeller in Oslo. This time around they are playing their 1986 set-list exclusively. You know what this means: Only songs from their 1985 debut “Power From Hell and 1986 “The Force”. No newer stuff will be played. So this is a unique chance for those who have been there since that time to re-live this, and an opportunity for the younger audience to experience something special. Expect their thrash anthems “Onslaught (Power From Hell)”, “Death Metal”, “Angels Of Death” and the likes. Grab out those old records and prepare yourself for a classic night.
With them as support they have legendary Detente from Los Angeles, U.S.A. and Norway’s own up and coming Black Magic. Detente started in 1985 was one of the first bands to do a crossover between thrash and punk and was soon picked up by Roadrunner Records. Sharing the scene in the early days with bands like Violence, DRI, Dark Angel and others, they still know their old school.
Black Magic started as a one-man band in 2006, but now has a full live line-up, including members from Deathhammer. According to themselves they sound like “a taste of evil in the form of black/thrash.” We believe them.
Be there this night and thrash till the death and have a fight with the beast, ALRIGHT!
